Glimpse Of Nepal

Itinerary:

Day 01: Kathmandu
Arrival at Tribhuwan International Airport, Kathmandu. A traditional warm welcome by our airport representative. Briefing about the package in the hotel. Rest time at Leisure. Evening typical welcome dinner.

Day 02: Kathmandu (B)
After breakfast, we begin our full day sight seeing tour of Kathmandu valley by visiting two very important religious centers, Pashupatinath temple for the Hindus, nearby along the banks of the river Bagmati is the cremation area for the dead, Boudhanath is possibly the largest Stupa in the world and the center for Tibetan school of Buddhism. We then drive on to Bhaktapur the medical cities of devotees and the best preserved of all the old cities of Kathmandu Valley.

Day 03: Kathmandu Lumbini (B)
Today we drive to the Lumbini, the birthplace of Lord Buddha which has been revered as the place of holy pilgrimage. Listed as a World Heritage Site by Unesco, Lumbini is being developed with international support as an international Buddhist pilgrimage site and a symbol of world peace. (On the way you may stop for a while to visit Manakamana Temple, believed as the wish fulfilling goddess by cable car.)

On reaching Lumbini we check in our hotel and can take a walk to the Sacred Lumbini Garden where the Buddha was born converges on the Ashoka pillar and the Maya Devi temple with a bas relief depicting the Nativity. The serene, tree-shaded lawn is dotted with brick mounds which are the remains of ancient stupas and monasteries.

Day 04: Lumbini (B)
Today we take a drive to Tilaurkot, 27km west of Lumbini. An important archaeological site, Tilaurkot evokes the ancient palace of King Suddhodhan, Siddhartha Gautam''s father, where the Buddha spent his formative years as a Shakya prince. The Kapilvastu Museum in Tilaurkot holds coins, pottery, jewelry and ornaments from 700 BC-400 AD. A must for archaeology and history buffs.
Many Asian countries with large numbers of Buddhists have constructed, or are constructing, temples, monasteries and Stupas near the Sacred Garden in the International Monastery Zone. The various shrines, reflecting the different architectural traditions of the respective countries, give Lumbini an international feel and enhance its message of universal friendship and brotherhood. In the afternoon we visit these Shrines.
